Netherlands Film Fund & Hubert Bals Fund

The NFF+HBF Co-production Scheme is a collaboration between the Netherlands Film Fund and the Hubert Bals Fund. The NFF+HBF programme offers support twice a year to projects granted support for HBF Script and Project Development.

In order to encourage Dutch involvement in international co-productions, as well as to help Hubert Bals Fund projects raise funds for their production, the Netherlands Film Fund and the HBF set up the Netherlands Film Fund – Hubert Bals Fund Co-production Scheme: NFF+HBF.

The Netherlands Film Fund makes available an annual amount of €300,000 for applications from Dutch producers who can be awarded a maximum of €75,000 production support in order to co-produce a project previously supported by the HBF. Projects eligible for the scheme are those that have been granted HBF support for Script and Project Development at an earlier stage, and which are now looking for funds to finance their production. The project must have an attached Dutch producer, who should make the application.

The Chimaera Project

Created in memory of Melissa Rucker, a former Madison Wells producer and executive known for championing new talent and underrepresented voices, The Melissa Rucker Finishing Fund supports U.S.-based women and non-binary filmmakers (age 40+) completing narrative and documentary projects in both short and feature formats.

Built on a shared belief in the power of diverse storytelling, the fund brings together Madison Wells Forward, the philanthropic arm of Madison Wells, and The Chimaera Project to champion women and non-binary filmmakers and help bring bold new stories to audiences.

Designed for films in post-production, the fund supports bold, original projects while addressing the barriers that women and non-binary filmmakers often face throughout their careers—particularly those navigating the industry at mid-career and beyond. In addition to financial backing, the program provides mentorship and hands-on support throughout the entire process, from post-production through release. The goal is simple: to help filmmakers complete their work and get it out into the world.

Screen Ireland

his funding is for live-action or animated feature films (live-action or animated TV projects are not eligible) originating outside Ireland in which an Irish producer (ROI) is involved as a creative collaborator, not merely a service producer and provider of a minority of the finance needed.

The film must be structured as an official co-production with third party funding from the leading territory in place and must employ key Irish talent.

Priority will be given to projects that utilise Ireland as a film location, depict Ireland for Ireland, and where a number of key Irish HOD's and/or Irish cast are employed. Reciprocity from funding agencies in other jurisdictions will be sought in appropriate circumstances.

Script Pipeline

The 15th Annual First Look Project searches for higher-concept material across six categories.

  • Screenplay - Action & Sci-fi, Comedy, Drama, and Horror & Thriller

  • TV Pilot - Hour and Half-hour original pilots

Unlike Script Pipeline's Screenwriting and TV writing contests, entries for First Look are judged on both writing ability and market potential, in addition to the originality of the concept.

For this particular contest, your script might need a bit of refining and still have a great chance to win if we feel the story itself could stand out in the current landscape. Ideally, we want to first look at the next buzzworthy specs before hitting the market.

Look Aside Films

Look Aside is incredibly excited to open our short film fund for a third year.

We’ve opened this fund to provide more opportunity for emerging voices and filmmakers. Finance opportunities are few and talented artists are many, so we want to do as much as we can to help bring more stories to life.

This year, two short film funds are open - our Primary Fund, for more established filmmakers, which is cash value £5000, and our Debut Fund, for new filmmakers, which is cash value £1000. Our partners also collectively provide up to £10,000 worth of additional support. Our main focus is unique voices and perspectives and we're completely genre-agnostic.

Thank you to our partners - Cineroller, The Developing Room, Festival Formula, Get Set Hire, Marauder Pictures, Percy and Warren, Short Stuff, Studio Fifteen, Damian Pace, and Zoomies Rental.
